William Sessoms
William Sessoms was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 25,1954 to his mother, Frances Sessoms. He met his Savior face to face on September 10, 2026. His family knew him as a man passionate about the culinary arts, as well as the ministry. He was very involved as a leader in the Men's Ministry, as well as the Deliverance Ministry at The Church on the Rock in Oklahoma City.
Bill proudly served our country in the Army from January 1974 to January 1982 and was awarded with a Joint Service Commendation medal for service to NATO. He served at the Radio Research Field Station at Udorn, Thailand from February 1975 to March 1976. He concluded his service with the rank of Specialist 5 (SP5). He earned his Associate Degree in Mental Health/Human Services at Kingsborough Community College in New York, as well as an Associate of Science in Culinary Arts/Restaurant Management at the New York Restaurant School in New York City. After that he worked as a Benefits Authorizer and Claims Rep for the Social Security Administration for over 14 years, and a Human Resource Assistant for the Federal Aviation Administration for over 4 years. On March 31, 2013, a flag was flown over the United States Capitol in honor of his retirement from Federal Civilian Service and he received the Governor's Commendation for over 25 years of service from Governor Mary Fallin.
On May 4, 1991, Bill married Maxine Sims and became a Stepfather to Danielle and Dominique Bond in New York. Tragically, Maxine passed away December 1, 2006.
On October 14, 2007 he married his wife, Linda Sessoms. They lived in Juneau, Alaska where he helped establish and manage Cheap Cholly's Savemore store with Rena and Lenny Sims Sr. Soon after, Bill and Linda decided to relocate to Oklahoma.
In February 2013 they welcomed a granddaughter, Shiloh Walker. In December 2014 another granddaughter was born, Shelby Walker. Finally in August 2021, they welcomed a grandson, Judah Walker. His grandchildren enjoyed his stories of New York. He gave Judah his first firetruck (like the firetrucks he knew in NY). He taught them that the only cool Converse shoes were the white ones and they had to stay crisp and clean. Bill only had cats growing up, but he loved all of the doggie companions he and Linda acquired over the years: Katie, Max, and finally Gracie, even though he wasn't familiar with how dogs acted. He would sometimes say they were "Coocoo for Cocoa Puffs." He truly enjoyed sharing about his military service and his family history. He shared that his family's brothers served in every American war. He enjoyed ministering and visiting with those in need of encouragement and loved to cook for family gatherings. He often would ride around town with Linda, find new places to eat or have picnics at the lake. They also enjoyed playing games or watching movies together. He was a very strong man with a soldier's perseverance. When visiting, he rarely let anyone leave without offering to pray for them. We will miss him.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Linda Sessoms of Warr Acres, OK, daughter-in-law Darcy Peterson and her husband, Jim Peterson of Edmond, OK, son-in-law Luke Walker and his wife Myriah Walker, granddaughters Shiloh and Shelby and grandson Judah of Minco, OK, step-daughter Danielle Bond and husband Maurice Barker, granddaughters Naya, Kera, Kierra, and grandsons Christopher (CJ), and Dominick of New York, and step-daughter Dominique Bond and husband Vernon Hill, grandson Quinton, and great-grandson Adonis, of New York, brother Ernest Sessoms, Sr. and his wife April Sessoms of New York, along with nieces and nephews Roderick and Doniqua Moore, Ernest Sessoms Jr., Latesha Sessoms, and Angela Sessoms. He is preceded in death by his mother Frances Sessoms and his late wife Maxine Sessoms.
