LoveKept exists to honor loved ones with dignity. Because our users create the memorial pages, guestbook entries, photos, and obituaries you see, we treat reports of abuse and copyright infringement seriously. This page walks through how to flag content that breaks our Terms of Service, how to file a copyright (DMCA) notice, and what follows once you reach out. Anyone can submit a report, whether or not they hold a LoveKept account.
1. Report Abusive or Inappropriate Content
If you think a memorial page, obituary, guestbook entry, photo, or other content breaks our Terms of Service, you can report it to us. Content that may warrant removal includes, but is not limited to:
- Impersonation or false memorials: A memorial made for a living person, for someone invented, or by a person with no real connection to the deceased or authority to memorialize them.
- Harassment or malicious content: Anything meant to shame, degrade, threaten, or harass the deceased, their surviving family, or any other person.
- Hateful, defamatory, or unlawful content: Hate speech, false statements of fact, threats, doxxing, or anything else that is illegal.
- Private or sensitive information: Personal details shared without permission, or content that intrudes on someone's privacy.
- Spam, misuse, or off-topic content: Advertising, unrelated file storage, or anything that has no place on a memorial.
- Sexually explicit or graphic content: Material that is not appropriate for a memorial platform.
To flag such content, email support@lovekept.co with the subject line "Content Report" and tell us:
- The URL (web address) of the memorial page or the specific content at issue;
- What the content is and why you believe it breaks our Terms;
- How you are connected to the deceased or the affected person, if at all; and
- Your name and a contact email address in case we need to follow up.
2. What Happens After You Report
Once a report reaches us, we assess the content against our Terms of Service and content standards. Depending on what we find, we may:
- Leave the content in place if it does not break our Terms;
- Edit, hide, unpublish, or permanently delete the content or memorial;
- Reach out to the account holder who posted it;
- Freeze or restrict a memorial that is caught up in a dispute; or
- Suspend or terminate the account behind a violation.
We try to acknowledge reports quickly and to review them within a reasonable time. As our Terms of Service explain, LoveKept may, at its sole discretion, review, remove, or unpublish any content at any time. Reports involving safety, harassment, impersonation, or unlawful content may take priority. Automated systems may assist with moderation, with a person reviewing removal decisions where appropriate. We do not adjudicate family or estate disputes; for those, please see Section 6 (Memorial Disputes and Collaboration) of our Terms of Service.
3. Removal Requests from Family
Sometimes a memorial needs to come down, and the person asking is not the one who created it. If you are the account holder, or a family member with the authority to act for the person memorialized or for the family, you can ask us to remove a memorial or specific content within it. Write to us at support@lovekept.co.
So that we can act on your request, please include:
- A link to the memorial, or the full name of the person it honors;
- Your relationship to them; and
- What you are asking us to do, whether that is removing the whole memorial or particular photos, entries, or details.
Memorials are often created by one family member and questioned by another, so we may come back to you to confirm your relationship or your authority before we act. We know that is one more thing to handle at a hard time, and we try to keep it simple. Preservation does not change any of this: if a memorial has been preserved, a removal request is treated the same way, and any question about the payment is handled under our Refund Policy.
4. Copyright Infringement (DMCA Notice)
We respect the intellectual property rights of others and follow the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA"). If you believe content hosted on the Service infringes a copyright you own or are authorized to represent, you may send our Designated Agent a written notification that includes all of the following:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf;
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed;
- Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing and information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate the material (e.g., the URL);
- Your contact information, including your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address;
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notification is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf.
Designated Agent: Our Designated Agent is registered with the U.S. Copyright Office's DMCA Designated Agent Directory. Send DMCA takedown notices to:

5. DMCA Counter-Notification
If you believe your content was removed or disabled because of a mistake or misidentification, you may send our Designated Agent a counter-notification that includes all of the following:
- Your physical or electronic signature;
- Identification of the material that was removed or disabled and the location at which it appeared before it was removed or disabled;
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification; and
- Your name, mailing address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court in your judicial district (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district in which LoveKept may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original DMCA notification or an agent of that person.
Upon receipt of a valid counter-notification, we will forward it to the complaining party. We may restore the removed content within 10–14 business days after receiving the counter-notification, unless the complaining party notifies us that it has filed a court action seeking to restrain the allegedly infringing activity.
6. Repeat Infringers
It is our policy, in appropriate circumstances, to terminate the accounts of users who are determined to be repeat copyright infringers. We may also, in our sole discretion, limit access to the Service and/or terminate the accounts of any users who infringe the intellectual property rights of others, whether or not there is any repeat infringement.
7. Good Faith and Misuse of Reports
Please submit reports only in good faith. Under Section 512(f) of the DMCA, any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that material was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, may be liable for damages. Submitting false or abusive reports through this channel may also result in action against your account. If you are unsure whether content violates our Terms or your rights, we encourage you to consult a legal professional before submitting a formal notice.
