Ellie Mae Sumpter

Ellie Sumpter, who was from Kentucky, passed away on September 9, 2026. Born on October 20, 1942, Ellie lived a life defined by her bright spirit. She was funny, and she was someone who loved with her whole heart.

For most of her life, Ellie dedicated herself to the care of others as a pediatric nurse, later continuing her calling as a home health nurse. Her gentle, caring nature was felt by many, both in her profession and at home. She loved cooking for her family and friends, sharing her warmth through hospitality, and she spent many peaceful hours sitting on the porch people watching.

Though she has passed, her family and friends remember her comforting perspective on parting. As Ellie always has said, she is not leaving: it is just see you later.
