Terrance Haliburton
Terrance Haliburton, known to all who loved him as Terry, was born on July 28, 1958, in Detroit, Michigan, and passed away on October 23, 2026, at the age of 68. He leaves behind a family whose lives are richer, warmer, and more full of laughter because he was in them.
Terry was the firstborn of six children, and he wore that title with pride. By every account, he was undoubtedly the best big brother anyone could ask for. Being the oldest meant leading the way, and Terry did it with a steady presence his siblings could always count on. He was the one they looked to, the one who set the example, and the one whose care for them never wavered. To be loved by Terry was to feel looked after, and his brothers and sisters felt that from their earliest days to his last.
Terry leaves to celebrate his homegoing and his legacy his mother, Lareitha; his five siblings; his three children, Dontavios, Tiara, and Terrance II; and his grandchildren, Terrance III, Tyler, Tamia, and Trinity. Family was the center of Terry's world. He was a son who honored his mother, a brother who held his siblings close, and a father whose love shaped the lives of his children. In his grandchildren, he saw his legacy carried forward, and they will carry his memory with them always.
Anyone who spent time around Terry knew that he had a gift for making people feel special, and nothing showed it better than the names he gave. If you had the pleasure of being given a name by Terry, you were somehow extra special. There was Trixe, and for most of the girls in his life, there was a "boo" attached: Moo-Moo, T-boo, PooPoo, Ula boo, Creta boo, Ua boo, and Syd-boo, just to name a few. These names were more than playful nicknames. They were Terry's way of claiming each person as his own, a small, joyful reminder that they had a place in his heart. Over a lifetime, he made a quiet work of loving people this way, and those names will be spoken with smiles for years to come.
But above all, Terry's greatest joy was being a grandfather. Of all the roles he held in his long and full life, this was the one that lit him up the most. He poured his warmth, his humor, and his love into his grandchildren, and they knew without question how deeply they were cherished.
Terry's life was a celebration of family and of the simple, lasting power of making someone feel loved. Though his family grieves his passing, they rejoice in the gift of having known him. His spirit lives on in every nickname, every shared memory, and every heart he touched. Rest well, Terry. You were, and always will be, extra special to us.
