Steve R Sampy

Steven Sampy Sr was born on November 7, 1952 in Lafayette Louisiana to Harry Sampy Sr and Marcelette Mercier Sampy He attended Carencro High School. He retired from Northside High School. He was employed with Alesi Pizza House and was a dedicated worker and well loved. He also worked at Sunbeam Bakery, Borden’s, Dales Chevron and Latours Gulf. He enjoyed going to the race track, shooting dice and shooting pool. He also had a love for the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He never missed a chance to stop to the store to try his luck with a scratch off ticket although he knew his wife would fuss about all the losing tickets that were left in the truck he still bought them every single day. He met his wife Nellie Sampy in high school and they have been attached at the hip ever since. If you saw one you saw the other. . On August 22nd 1972 they began their lifetime journey together until God called him home on October 27th 2026 . He has two children a daughter Carol Sampy Thomas , and a son Steven Sampy Jr . Two grandsons Dwayne Andrus Jr and Quaderrious Sampy three granddaughters Quintella Leon, Quanisha Johnson and Tyraneika Cormier. He has 9 great grandchildren. He enjoyed watching his New England Patriots and Lsu Tigers play and when they would lose he would call his daughter and ask her why she didn’t call the coach to give the special pep talk before the game then turned around and blamed her for them losing. His son loves his Philadelphia Eagles and when they would lose ,instead of calling him he would call his daughter and say Carolann you think its safe to call Jr right now, bc he knew his son didn’t like when his eagles lost. He was fun-loving and had a great sense of humor. He loved his family and friends and would keep in touch with everyone. Memories of his beautiful spirit and fun nature will be treasured by his wife, children, grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 54 yrs Nellie Sampy two children Carol Sampy Thomas (Rick) of Lafayette and Steven Sampy Jr (Rachel) of Lafayette. Three Brothers Mabry Sampy of Houston TX, Harry Sampy Jr (Dorothy) of Carencro , Mickey Sampy (Joyce ) of Carencro. Two Sisters, Sheila Sampy and Annette Sampy both of Lafayette.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Marcelette Sampy , one sister Marie Sampy Jones, and one daughter in law Cynthia Sampy.
