Love what you have before life teaches you to love what you have lost

To live in hearts we left behind is not to die

⚔️ A WARRIOR'S FAREWELL ⚔️

His Battle May Have Ended, But His Legend Lives On

Until Valhalla, My Warrior.

Some souls are born with a fire that this world will never understand. Some men are warriors not because they never fall, but because no matter how many times life knocks them down, they find the strength to rise again.

Today, we say goodbye far too soon to a man whose heart was bigger than his battles and whose love ran deeper than words could ever explain.

He was not a perfect man. None of us are. But he was a man who tried, a man who loved, a man who wanted to change, and a man who deserved the opportunity to live the life he was fighting so hard to build.

After spending more than 17 years behind bars, he came out determined to make something of his life. He wanted to leave his past behind, find his place in a world that doesn't always welcome people who are trying to change, and most importantly, become the father his son, Ritchee, deserved.

He went to school. He worked hard. He fought every day to build something better for himself. With every breath, he was trying to become a different man, to break old cycles, and to make up for lost time.

His greatest wish was to give his son a better life than the one he had known. He wanted Ritchee to have opportunities, a brighter future, and every chance to become the man he knew his son could be. He wanted to be present. He wanted to make up for the years he had missed. He wanted to be a father his son could look up to and be proud of.

But the road was not easy.

The system tells people to change, to do better, and to become productive members of society, yet too often tears down the very people who are trying to find their way back. The obstacles were real. Life knocked him down more times than it should have. The weight he carried was heavy, and the road was often unfair.

He was trying to find his place in a world that doesn't always make room for someone rebuilding a life after losing so many years.

But he never stopped trying.

Please don't let those struggles be the only thing people remember.

Because the man I knew had a heart unlike any other.

He loved more deeply than any man I have ever known. His heart was solid. His love was real, sometimes bigger than he knew how to express. He had a way of caring that went beyond words. Those who truly knew him understood there was so much more to him than the chapters of his life that were difficult.

He was a rare kind of man. An amazing lover, a devoted father, and a loyal friend. He was fierce, stubborn, protective, and unapologetically himself. He was not a man who backed down easily. He would have stepped in front of not just one bullet, but a blaze of bullets, to protect the people he loved.

Underneath the anger, the walls, and the battles he carried was a heart that simply wanted to be loved. He was a fighter, but he was also a lover. A man with imperfections, scars, and a story that only those who truly knew him could understand.

He was not a perfect man, but he was a man who tried. His past was a chapter, not his entire story. His struggles were real, but so was his love. And his heart was worth remembering.

To Alana, his wife, and Ritchee, his son: I hope you always know that you were part of his story, part of his heart, and part of what made him want to keep fighting for a better tomorrow.

To his brothers, James, Brian, and Michael: You shared a lifetime of memories, a bond that only brothers can understand, and a connection that will never be erased.

And to his two faithful dogs, his best friends who stood beside him without judgment, without conditions, and without ever asking him to be anything other than himself: sometimes the purest love in this world comes on four paws.

**As for me,** distance and circumstances eventually led us down different paths. Life took us in different directions, and time changed many things. But one thing never changed: my love for him never died.

Some people leave your life, but they never leave your heart. Some bonds cannot be undone by distance, time, or the circumstances that separate two people.

I will always remember the man behind the struggles, the heart behind the hardships, and the love that was always there.

There are words I wish I had said, moments I wish I had shared, and times I wish I had been there when he needed me most. I will carry that sorrow with me, but I will also carry the beautiful truth that our lives will forever be connected through the greatest gift he ever gave me: our son.

I wish life had given him more time. More opportunities. More understanding. More chances to show the world who he was becoming instead of constantly being reminded of who he had been.

**Ritchee, one day I hope you will understand your father's heart.**

I hope you see the warrior in him, but also the tenderness beneath his armor. I hope you understand that he wanted more for you than he ever had for himself. When life gets hard, when the world tests your strength, and when you find yourself standing at a crossroads, I hope you look through your father's eyes and feel his love deep within your heart.

Remember, son, that strength does not mean never falling. It means finding the courage to rise again.

Your father fought many battles, and through every one of them, he wanted you to have a brighter future.

May you carry his courage without carrying his pain. May you inherit his loyalty, his fearless heart, and his ability to love fiercely. And may you always know that you were loved beyond measure.

I will never stop loving the warrior I fell in love with. I will never forget the man who gave me our son. And I will never let his story be reduced to the circumstances of his final chapter.

He was so much more than the way he left this world.

His final battle may have been fought alone, but his memory will never stand alone. He leaves behind a son, a family, brothers, friends, two faithful companions, and people whose lives will forever carry a piece of him.

He was a father, a husband, a brother, a son, a friend, and a man who was deeply loved.

May he finally find the peace that life so often denied him.

**You were more than your past. You were more than your mistakes. You were more than the walls that once held you. You were loved, you mattered, and you will never be forgotten.**

Rest peacefully, my warrior. Your fight is over. Your memory lives on.

**UNTIL VALHALLA.** ⚔️❤️
