Mom was the toughest most courageous and stubborn person I have ever met. She never met a stranger and had more empathy than anyone could imagine.
She had a terrible motorcycle accident in 1976. She was pronounced DOA by her uncle that didn’t even recognize her. She was brought back to life but it left her with a TBI, paraplegic and nobody knew if she would live.
Not only did she survive, she lived. She relearned how to speak, use her left arm, left leg, walk… she learned to live on her own.
In 1984 she got pregnant… the doctors told her I wouldn’t do well, and she wouldn’t survive labor. In June of 85 she proved them all wrong again. She raised me and with the help of her mom and sister (Gretchen Lukl) lived a full life.
She took me to 4-H, FFA, basketball… took me back in after I moved out every time. She was there when I got married the first time, and held my hand through divorce. She was always there.
She made decisions she wasn’t proud of, and loved people no matter how bad their decisions were. She loved Jesus and talked about her Heavenly Father like he was a close friend, and he was.
She had a lot of pain and confusion the last couple years. She had said to me on multiple occasions she was ready to go home. Ready to see Jesus face to face.
She was amazing. I’m so thankful for Jeffrey Cassidy and Heather Scott being here with me through the transition. Thank you all for keeping our family in your prayers.
