In Loving Memory of Diane Marie Guastaferro
On All Saints’ Day, November 1, 2026, Diane Marie Guastaferro peacefully left this earth to be reunited with the saints and loved ones who had gone before her.
Born into a traditional Italian family, Diane carried within her a spirit of courage, independence, and adventure. As a young woman, she moved to Chicago on her own and pursued a career as a flight attendant with Western Airlines, soaring above the clouds. She showed the world what an independent, aspirational young woman could do.
Diane’s greatest pride and accomplishment was her family. As a single mother, she raised her son, John, in a small apartment on Hope Street in Huntington Park, CA. She created a home full of hope and creativity that helped shape the person her son would become.
At the age of 39, Diane was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, a condition that would challenge her physically for the rest of her life. Yet she never allowed the disease to hold her back. Through hope and perseverance, she demonstrated a joyful spirit that would touch so many…as a mother, a grandmother, a friend to her neighbors, and a shining light to strangers.
Diane’s memory will forever live on through her son, John Guastaferro; daughter-in-law, Debbie; her beloved granddaughters, Emma and Sarah; and all who were blessed to know her.
Diane took immense pride in her only son and his work as Executive Director of Hyundai Hope On Wheels and the Genesis Inspiration Foundation, two nonprofit organizations serving youth nationwide. She was especially proud of the wonder he brought to people’s lives through music, magic, and philanthropy, and she delighted in watching that impact grow throughout his life and career.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Diane’s honor to Hyundai Hope On Wheels or the Genesis Inspiration Foundation. These causes held special meaning for Diane because of their commitment to bringing hope and healing to children and families across the country.
As Diane takes her final flight, her family finds comfort in knowing that her journey continues in eternal peace.
