Joann and I are cousins so she was such a big part of my growing up. She and my mom considered themselves sisters as they were close in age and my mom and her mom were sisters but were 18 years apart. So mom was always over there and my aunt called mom her other child and my sister and I were her other grandkids. We were always either over at Joann’s or Aunt Eula’s at the weekends. Joann was someone I admired my whole life, her faith, her patience, her peace and that smile always calmed me as I grew older and as I remembered her and old memories. I will miss my oldest cousin or as Aunt Eula’s called her my “Aunt Joann”’. TIL we meet again sweetie. ♥️♥️
Joann Yvonne Acton
She Left a Legacy of Love
Joann Yvonne (White) Acton, 97, of Tampa, Florida, was ushered safe into the Arms of Jesus on the morning of October 16, 2026.
Born in Hamilton, Ohio, Joann was the daughter of Theodore R. and Eula M. (Pierce) White. Her family later moved to Springfield, Ohio, where she graduated from Springfield High School in 1947.
Joann’s life was rooted in her unwavering Christian faith, her devotion to family, and her love for others. She accepted Jesus as her Savior at an early age and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life. She found great joy in attending church, studying God’s Word, singing, and serving others.
As a young mother, Joann helped operate the family business, Hillside Ave Floralteria, where she enjoyed creating beautiful floral arrangements. Later in life, her love of books led her to work at Warder Public Library, including serving the community through its Bookmobile.
Joann raised five children with her first husband, Carl E Carryer, who was tragically killed after a small plane accident in 1961.
Her second marriage was to Robert (Bob) B Truman, (1965) a father of four. Later in their marriage his two youngest children came to join the family. Bob lost his life to lung cancer in 1990.
In 1992, Joann married Lt. C. Earnest (Jack) Acton, the love of her life and soulmate. Together, they shared a beautiful marriage rooted in faith, companionship, and devotion to God and family. After moving to Florida in 2001, Joann and Jack became active members of Bay Hope Church, where they enjoyed greeting other worshipers with their warm, contagious smiles and friendly hugs. Their 13 years together brought much happiness, love, and laughter.
After a brief illness, Jack passed away in 2005. Joann’s final 21 years were not void of joy, but full of hope, for she put on the garment of praise for the joy set before her, knowing that one day, she too would join her loved ones in glory!
In addition to her three husbands, Joann was preceded in death by her beloved eldest daughter, Linda Naugle-Cetta in 2015.
Joann is survived by her children, Dianne Keyser, James Carryer, Mark Carryer, and Carla Spikowski; and her stepchildren, Roberta Zedeker, Dean Truman, Deborah Kohl, and Beth Nawman. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Joann will be remembered for her loving heart, steadfast faith, devotion to family, and the kindness she shared with everyone she met. Her life was a blessing, and her memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
